Warm, wintery indulgence doesn’t have to ruin your healthy eating plan!
This recipe takes about 5 minutes to prepare and skips out on the saturated fat of cow’s milk, whilst adding a generous helping of protein to the mix. You’ll be surprised at just how great this low calorie treat tastes – it may even be as good as a barista-brewed hot chocolate!
Tall drinking glass
1/4 cup Almond Milk (we recommend natural, unsweetened varieties)
1 scoop of chocolate flavoured whey protein of your choice
1 heaped teaspoon of cocoa powder
1 teaspoon/sachet of natural sweetener
1.5 cups of hot, boiled water
1. Mix the almond milk and dry ingredients together in a tall drinking glass until it forms a thick, smooth paste. It’s important that all of the protein powder is mixed in smoothly, otherwise the hot water can curdle it and leave your drink a little lumpy.
If you’re a mocha-latte fan, just add a tablespoon of instant coffee powder or a shot of espresso to the paste.
2. Fill the glass to the top with the hot water, constantly stirring it into the paste to ensure smoothness.
3. Sit back and relax with your big glass of yummy hot chocolate and enjoy every sip, knowing that it’s not breaking the calorie bank for the day!
